     John Absalom Barner was born on Sunday, 14 May 1882 at Susquehanna Township, Juniata County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Absalom M. Barner and Sarah Ann Sheaffer. John married (1) Lillian Rubenthal Crawell. John married (2) Melinda Irene Woolridge Smith. He died on Tuesday, 26 May 1970 at the age of 88 years and 12 days at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was buried at Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Liverpool RD 1, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
