     Richard Meyers Portwood was born on Tuesday, 1 November 1927 at Atchison, Atchison County, Kansas. He was the son of Thomas Bruce Portwood and Mary Elizabeth Meyers. Richard married (1), at the age of 22 Virginia Gilbert White on Tuesday, 15 August 1950 at San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. He and Virginia were divorced in 1978. Richard married (2), at the age of 57 Eleanor Durham in August 1985. He died on Thursday, 26 April 2001 at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 25 days.
