Susan Maria Lyter was born on Wednesday, 8 August 1900 at Liverpool, Perry County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of William Henry Lyter and Mariah Agnes Barner. Susan married, at the age of 18 William Clarence Long, age 20, son of W. C. Long and Ida H. Spicher, on Friday, 9 August 1918. She died on Tuesday, 7 January 1969 at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 30 days. She was buried at Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Liverpool RD 1, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
