Foster married, at the age of 20 Lucy Rosella Baney, age 15, daughter of Henry C. Baney and Hannah E. Mayes, on Friday, 27 September 1929 at Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He died on Tuesday, 25 June 1968 at the age of 59 years, 1 month and 23 days. He was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
