Bruce Irvin Barner was born on Saturday, 12 February 1898 at Castanea, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Irvin Oren Barner and Catharine May Detweiler. Bruce married (1), at the age of 18 Leotta Breon (Weaver) Smith, age 17 on Saturday, 30 December 1916 at Clinton County, Pennsylvania. Bruce married (2) Julia A. Fisher, daughter of Harry Wilbur Fisher and Sarah Matilda Hollen. Bruce became the step-father of Lorraine Anne Coulter with his marriage to Julia. He died on Sunday, 12 February 1984 at the age of 86 years. He was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, New York.
