Elizabeth Jane Bingaman was born on Monday, 19 September 1921 at Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of William James Bingaman and Meda Elizabeth Glossner. She went by Betty. Elizabeth married, at the age of 18 Dean Shields Burkett, age 22, son of Mervin Andrew Burkett and Catherine Amanda Shields, on Saturday, 16 December 1939 at Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia. She died on Saturday, 17 November 2007 at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 29 days at Fairacres Manor, Greeley, Weld County, Colorado.
