Vernon Martin Barner was born on Thursday, 23 January 1913 at Belle Plaine, Sumner County, Kansas. He was the son of Ray J. Barner and Mattie Beulah Richardson. Vernon married, at the age of 25 Dorothy Anna Oltman, age 19, daughter of Henry Eugene Oltman and Anna Louise Wolford, on Thursday, 8 September 1938. He died on Friday, 24 February 1984 at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 1 day at Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada. He was buried in section J, lot 103, plot 3, at Belle Plaine Cemetery, Belle Plaine, Sumner County, Kansas.
