Elmer Ellsworth Herlacher was born on Wednesday, 7 May 1862 at Logan Township, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John J. Herlacher and Saphira S. Heckman. Elmer married, at the age of 27 Sarah Minerva Barner, age 21, daughter of Jacob B. Barner and Susan Moore, on Thursday, 20 June 1889 at Clinton County, Pennsylvania. In addition to being husband and wife, Elmer and Sarah were also second cousins. He died on Thursday, 21 July 1921 at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 14 days. He was buried at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Loganton, Greene Township, Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
