John L. Barner was born on Monday, 17 November 1902 at Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Horace Colder Barner and Mary Agnes Clugston. John married (1) Helen C. Sleichter in 1922. John married (2) Leona Hornberger, daughter of Clayton Hornberger and Laura Sensnig, after 1958. He died on Friday, 8 March 1985 at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 19 days.
