Jeremiah J. Barner was born on Friday, 4 May 1838 at Greene Township, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Henry Barner and Catharine Kern. He went by Jerry. Jeremiah married Elizabeth Engle, daughter of John Engle. He died in 1914 at the age of 75 years. He was buried at Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Eastville, Greene Township, Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
