Jacob Barner was born on Monday, 27 April 1812 near Barner's Church, Greenwood Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania now Liverpool Township, Perry County, PA. He was the son of George Barner and Maria Dups. Jacob married (1), at the age of 27 Elizabeth Wagner, age 30 on Monday, 10 February 1840. Jacob married (2), at the age of 55 Eve Stailey, daughter of John Stailey, on Tuesday, 5 November 1867. He died on Monday, 19 April 1880 at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 23 days. He was buried at Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Liverpool RD 1, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
