Jacob Irwin Barner was born on Wednesday, 2 March 1864 at Liverpool Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Samuel Barner and Amelia Gougler. Jacob married Lavenia Victorene Rhinehart in 1885. He died on Monday, 3 September 1934 at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 1 day. He was buried at Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Liverpool RD 1, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
