J. Herman Gipe was born on Wednesday, 16 January 1918 at Penbrook, Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Henry Clayton Gipe and Blanche Beulah Barner. His nickname was Jim. J. married (1), at the age of 20 Mary Calhane on Saturday, 21 May 1938. J. married (2), at the age of 39 Margaret Sponhauer, age 35 on Tuesday, 25 June 1957. He died on Saturday, 8 August 1998 at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 23 days.
