George W. Barner was born on Wednesday, 2 May 1838 at Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Henry Barner and Elizabeth Smith. George married (1), at the age of 28 Fiana Heighes, age 23 on Sunday, 16 December 1866 by the Rev. Charles Gustavus Erlenmeyer. George married (2) Amanda Reisinger circa 1877. He died on Sunday, 19 September 1909 at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 17 days. He was buried at Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Liverpool RD 1, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
