Joel Barner was born on Thursday, 20 March 1845 at Loganton, Greene Township, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Herman Barner and Catharine Kerstetter. Joel married Lucinda Inhoof, daughter of Jacob H. Inhoof and Betsy [?]. He died on Friday, 1 February 1901 at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 12 days. He was buried at Zion Cemetery, Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
