Melvin married (1), at the age of 24 Charlotte Geraldine Ungard, age 17, daughter of Ralph E. Ungard and Ruth C. [?], on Saturday, 17 February 1940 at Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He and Charlotte were divorced. Melvin married (2) Martha Gore Durkin after 1943. He and Martha were divorced. Melvin married (3), at the age of 51 Eleanore Elizabeth Berger, age 46 on Saturday, 4 November 1967 at Pennsylvania. He and Eleanore were divorced. Melvin married (4), at the age of 61 Julia Anna Porter Guthrie, age 64, daughter of Edward D. Porter and Addie F. Guldenshuh, on Saturday, 2 July 1977 at Pennsylvania. He died on Thursday, 8 July 1993 at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 9 days. He was buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedar Hill, Lamar Township (near Mill Hall), Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
