     William Edward Messner was born on Monday, 9 October 1911 at Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William John Messner and Mary Alice Knauff. William married (1), at the age of 20 May Gertrude Dreibelbis, age 17, daughter of Milton William Dreibelbis and Gertrude Heckman, on Saturday, 10 October 1931 at Zion Reformed Church, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He and May were divorced circa 1946. William married (2), at the age of 69 Katherine Meredith Quick, age 59, daughter of Calvin Quick and Effie Mae Lomison, on Wednesday, 19 November 1980 at Montoursville, Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He died on Thursday, 20 March 1986 at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 11 days at home at Montoursville, Fairfield Township, Pennsylvania. He was buried on Monday, 24 March 1986 at Montoursville Cemetery, Montoursville, Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
